Regardless of the nationality, all foreign mountain climber who intend to go to Damavand Iran for hiking trekking, climbing, ski mountaineering and snowboarding, should have a climbing permit from Mount Climbing Federation of Iran. The cost of a climbing permit (at the moment, March 2012) is 50 USD (or equivalent) per person.

You can pay the permit fee to your tour leader in advance. If you travel to the area by a tour agency, make sure the permit fee is included it your charges. But if you go alone, pay the permit to the representative of Iran Mountaineering & Sport Climbing Federation at Camp 1 Polour Hut and get a ticket.
