Routes Damavand Mountain Q&A 1

Q- I read on various sites that the North Face is the most exciting side to climb or do you have other experience, is there other routes that are very good views and a little more difficult as well? From what time in the year would it be possible to do the North side?
A- We organize Mt Damavand tours for any Route, see also Difficulty for all routes. In any itinerary the safety and comfort of the team is our main priority. Read the Advantages of South Route first.

Q- Any difference between the North and South Routes?
A- Considering difficulty and climbing grades, there is a big difference between the South and the North routes, especially in winter and bad weather conditions. Our recommendation for ordinary mountaineers is the South route. Visit Difficulty and Climbing Grade for different routes od Damavand Iran.

Q- I think the North side ascent would be the most interesting option in May/June?
A- The north face is not recommended for novices in May/June because it has too much snow in that period.

Advantages of Damavand South Route
South route has the best mountain resorts in Iran. In addition to the mountain refuges and shelters which are existent on the south face, there are a few excellent mountain huts which you can use easily especially in non crowded seasons.
(Read more Camp1 Hut and Camp3 Hut).

Huts are very safe haven in case of emergency and bad weather, also the best place for Acclimatization and Accommodation. So you do not have to stay in refuge, shelter and tent in case of bad weather and critical condition. Remember that there is in no hut on other Damavand routes and in case of crowded shelter you have to rely only on your tent even in bad weather!
Tour Services for Damavand South Route
For our tours, instead of using shelter, refuge or tent, we usually book and use private rooms in the huts. But in any case and any other route we will do our best, just choose the required route, we will offer our best services.

You can receive better travel support and tour services on the south face.
- In summer you can get porter and mule to camp3 4200m so you do not need to carry heavy equipment up there by yourself. There is no guarantee for portage on the other routes.

- It is almost safe to leave behind the unnecessary heavy equipments in camp3 hut private rooms on the summit day.
- In case of emergency and critical conditions, the rescue teams can reach south face much quicker (or may be available).
