If your target is to attack Damawand Summit, it is not recommended to include a non experienced mountaineer in a practiced group in the same program and itinerary. We organize Damavand tours for different climbing levels in separate categories.

Timing

Remember climbing Mt Damavand gets more difficult as we go towards the cold seasons, i.e. after December the weather becomes colder and you must be practiced for tough conditions, so it is highly recommended for beginners not to attempt this mountain in cold weather, the suggested timing for novice is summer season only.

Winter Climbing and Winter Warning
Winter is the most difficult season for Damavand mountaineering. We do not want to disappoint you, but it is really hard, freezing and cold. You should be very strong and you must be well-practiced for winter ascends.

In any winter sport activity on Mt Damavand, such as winter climbing, ski mountaineering and snowboarding programs the safety of a team is the main priority. Ascend to the summit is possible only in a suitable weather and good physical condition of your team.

Damavand Camp
Damavand Camp goes by multiple names, such as Damavand Base Camp, Damavand Camp II, and the second camp on the mountain. Locals refer to it as Goosfand-Sara (گوسفند سرا ), meaning "sheepfold," or the Saheb al-Zaman Mosque (مسجد صاحب الزمان ) campsite. This key stop offers basic amenities for climbers and trekkers, allowing them to rest and prepare before ascending Mount Damavand.

It is the most accessible and well-known starting point for expeditions on Mount Damavand. The camp provides necessary facilities like a mountain refuge, the Saheb al-Zaman Mosque, and a sheepfold. Perched at 3,040 meters and located at Latitude 35.9020° and Longitude 52.1094°, it serves as the main base camp for those climbing the south route, especially in the summer. This is the primary spot for rest and preparation before the ascent begins.
